Suspect Arrested in San Jose Muder Case

Man said girlfriend commited suicide, but police think otherwise

San Jose police say they have arrested a man suspected of murdering his girlfriend in September and then trying to pass off the death as a suicide.

Police arrested 25-year-old Anthony Lorenzo Almaguer, of San Jose, on Tuesday on suspicion of killing his girlfriend, 24-year-old Andrea Theis.

On Sept. 14, Almaguer called 911 and told dispatchers that Theis, also a San Jose resident, had committed suicide, police said.

During the investigation, detectives gathered evidence indicating that Almaguer had a hand in Theis' death and arrested him, police said.

Almaguer was booked into Santa Clara County Jail, police said.
