Suspect Arrested in Early-Morning SoMa Apartment Homicide

One person was shot and killed in an apartment in San Francisco's South of Market area early this morning, a police spokesman said.

Officers responded around 1:40 a.m. to reports of a shooting at an apartment building in the 900 block of Mission Street and found a victim suffering from at least one gunshot wound inside an apartment, according to San Francisco police Officer Gordon Shyy.

The victim was identified as a 26-year-old male, police said. The suspect was located at the scene, arrested and booked into San Francisco County Jail on a homicide sharge, police said. Police have identified the suspect as 68-year-old San Francisco resident Amisi Sudi Kachepa.

Police are not releasing Kachepa's booking photo at this time.

Medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene.

No suspect information was available and an investigation into the homicide is ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to call San Francisco Police.
