Suspect Exposes Himself to Girl Inside San Mateo Barnes & Noble

A man exposed himself to a 10-year-old girl inside a Barnes & Noble bookstore, according to San Mateo police, who released surveillance video Friday that they say shows the suspect leading the victim to a secluded spot in the store.

The girl was with her family inside the store at 11 W. Hillsdale Blvd. when the suspect approached the victim, police said in a press release.

โ€œThe suspect led the victim to a more secluded area in another part of the store, exposed himself to the victim, and had inappropriate physical contact with her,โ€ the statement said.

Police said the incident took place June 23.

Police are looking for help from the public to identify the suspect.

Video footage of the suspect was captured on the storeโ€™s surveillance cameras.

The suspect is described as a white male, in his 50s, about 6โ€™0โ€ tall, wearing a fishing hat, sunglasses and tan cargo pants. The suspect was seen getting into a dirty black or gray four-door car parked in the parking lot of the store.

Anyone with any information is urged to contact the San Mateo Police Department.
