The Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man who sexually assaulted a woman in San Jose after claiming to be a police officer.

The female victim was walking on Monterey Road in San Jose on Feb. 1 around 2:30 a.m. when the unknown male suspect picked her up in his car, according to sheriff's office officials.

Once the victim was inside the car, the suspect told her he was a police officer and displayed a blue and gold "shield type badge" and threatened to arrest her if she didn't do what he said, officials said.

He then drove the woman to a parking lot and sexually assaulted her.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male adult in his late 30s to early 40s with brown hair and brown eyes. He was 5 feet 4 inches to 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighing between 140 and 160 pounds, officials said.

The victim said the suspect had a "muscular build" and a "bowl style haircut."

He was last seen driving a white mid 1990s Dodge Durango, and had a black jacket with the word "SECURITY" on it in the back of his vehicle.

Anyone with information on this case is asked to call 408-808-4500 or the anonymous tip line at 408-808-4431.
