Road Rage Lands Salinas Man in Jail For DUI, Resisting Arrest

Police in Salinas on Friday arrested a man in connection with DUI and resisting arrest following a reported road rage incident.

Aziz Ahmed, 29, was arrested on suspicion of DUI, driving on a suspended license and resisting arrest, police said.

Officers with the Salinas Police Department responded Friday at 6:20 p.m. to the area of Williams Road and East Market Street on a report of a person driving erratically and brandishing a gun, according to police.

An officer located the vehicle in question and tried to stop it, but the driver, later identified as Ahmed, failed to yield and continued to drive to the rear of the La Princesa Market at 614 Williams Road, police said.

During the stop, Ahmed was uncooperative, yelled for the officers to kill him and reached to his waist as if he was armed, according to police.

An officer Tased him, but it proved ineffective, so a police K-9 was released to help take Ahmed into custody, police said.

Ahmed was bitten on the upper right arm and was taken into custody.

Police searched his vehicle and located a pellet handgun inside, according to police.
