Suspects Hold Hercules Family at Gunpoint During Home-Invasion Robbery

Police are seeking two armed suspects who ambushed a Hercules family at their home Wednesday night and stole the contents of a safe while making threats at gunpoint.

At 7:51 p.m., Hercules police officers responded to a residence in the 200 block of Cinnabar Way, where a reported home invasion and robbery had occurred 30 minutes earlier.

Two suspects apparently caught a 47-year-old woman, her two children and her elderly mother by surprise as they returned home, according to police.

Held at gunpoint, the victims were ordered to open a safe inside the home, police said. One suspect, armed with a rifle, threatened to shoot the children if the demands weren't met, police said.

When the woman opened the safe, police said the suspects stole its contents, disabled the victim's phone and shut all the victims into a bathroom.

The victims heard a car speeding away a short time later, police said, so it's suspected that there was a getaway driver involved as well.

An area check did not yield any trace of the suspects, police said.

Police described one suspect as a man in his 20s and standing 5 foot 9 inches tall He was apparently wearing all dark-colored clothing including a hooded sweatshirt, gloves and either a dark bandana or ski mask covering his face.

The other suspect was described by police as a man in his mid 20s and wearing similar clothing. He stands about 6 feet tall with a thin build, according to police
