“Tamale Lady” Pleads for Help on Twitter

A special news conference is planned for Thursday to try and save San Francisco's famed “Tamale Lady.”

Supervisor David Campos will join Virginia Ramos, better known as the “Tamale Lady,” in San Francisco to outline a plan for her to stay in business.

Wednesday, Ramos’s Twitter feed issued a plea for assistance: “Hey friends tamale needs your help! She is looking for a commercial kitchen to rent in S.F. ,hopefully in the mission or lower haight ,thnks"

Earlier this month, Ramos was told she could no longer sell her tamales at the Zeitgeist bar because the Health Department complained she was not a licensed vendor.
