A Vallejo man died Tuesday after police shot him with a Taser following his alleged attack on an elderly neighbor.

A woman called 911 at about 4:30 p.m., saying her neighbor had attacked her outside her home in Vallejo Mobil Estates. She managed to break away from the alleged attacker and called for help.

The man, 47-year-old Michael White, lived across the street from the woman. Police say when they got to White's house, he was irrational, delusional and refused to comply with orders. He then became violent toward cops and a struggle ensued, the police report says. Officers used the Taser to try to control White but nothing seemed to work. The struggle continued as police took White into custody.

Fire personnel and medics responded to the scene and White was placed on a gurney, put into an ambulance and taken to Kaiser Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Vallejo police and the Solano County District Attorney's Office are investigating the incident. White was on parole and had an extensive  criminal history, including assaults on peace officers.
