Tassajara Fire in Monterey County Burns 1,200 Acres

A 1,200-acre wildfire is burning Saturday in Monterey County, according to Cal Fire. 

Cal Fire officials are calling this the Tassajara Fire and said it started at 3:00 p.m. in a community 2.5 miles north of Jamesburg. 

As of Saturday evening, 10 percent of the fire had been contained.

Parrot Ranch area is under mandatory evacuation and Jamesburg and Cachagua areas are under evacuation advisory, according to Cal Fire. 

The Tassajara Fire had scorched 300 acres, as of Saturday afternoon.

Cal Fire sent a tweet at 7:36 p.m. reporting that 15 engines, four tankers, one air attack, two helicopters and one bulldozer are on scene to battle the flames.
