Teen Robbed at Gunpoint on San Ramon Trail

After asking for the 15-year-old's iPhone, the gunman allegedly tried to sexually assault the victim.

A 15-year-old was robbed at gunpoint and then the gunman attempt to sexually assault the teen on a San Ramon trail Wednesday afternoon, according to San Ramon police.

Around 2:50 p.m. police responded to a report of an armed robbery that had occurred on a trail leading from the back of the Gateway Shopping Center near Westside Drive at Brewin Lane, police said.

The suspect approached a 15-year-old from behind and pointed a silver handgun at the victim and demanded the teen's iPhone. The victim was then pushed to the ground the suspect attempted to sexually assault the teenager, police said.

According to the victim, it appeared the suspect was frightened away by a passing vehicle, police said.

The victim reported the incident about 30 minutes later at a friend's house, police said.

The suspect was not found and police are searching for the man described as a light-skinned black man in his 20s standing about 5 feet 7 inches tall with a medium build. He had a very short haircut and no facial hair and was wearing a blue V-neck shirt and jeans.
