Two teenagers shot near an East Palo Alto restaurant as city deals with uptick in violent crime

A teenager is dead and another is fighting for his life after an overnight shooting outside of a taqueria in East Palo Alto.

Police say the teenagers were targeted in the parking lot of a restaurant on East Bayshore Road  near Euclid Avenue, just before 10:30 Sunday night.

The 18-year-old victim died on the scene; the 19-year-old is being treated at Stanford hospital.

So far, police aren't releasing any information about possible suspects. The motive is still unknown.

The deadly shooting comes as the city is trying to get a handle on a recent uptick in violent crime.

Today, East Palo Alto detectives will reveal new details about three suspects arrested in connection with the murders of 19-year-old Catherine Fisher and 26-year-old Hugo Chavez.

Fisher was an aspiring teacher who was shot and killed while sitting in a parked SUV on Annapolis Avenue at around 2:00 in the morning on July 13.

Police found Chavez lying face down, with several gunshot wounds, in the driveway of a home on Camellia Court on July 19.

According to the Almanac News, the three suspects in the Fisher and Chavez murders are: Christian Fuentes, 20, Jaime Cardenas, 19, and Fidel Silva, 24.

The suspects are reportedly also wanted in connection with two robberies, a burglary, and a triple shooting and murder in Grand Junction, Colorado.
