Teens Robbed on Muni

A teenage girl was robbed on a San Francisco Municipal Railway bus Wednesday night and another teen had her cellphone stolen as she tried to call 911 to report the crime, police said.

The robberies were reported at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Brookdale Avenue and Santos Street, not far from the Cow Palace.

The two teens, ages 15 and 19, were on the bus when the suspect approached and took an iPod from the 15-year-old, according to police.

The suspect, described as a man in his early to mid-20s, got off the bus and the two teens followed him, police said.

As the 19-year-old was trying to call the police, the suspect grabbed her phone and then ran away. He had not been found as of this morning, according to police.

Anyone with information about the robberies is encouraged to call the Police Department's anonymous tip line at (415) 575-4444 or send a tip by text message to TIP411.
