The Bay Area is known for its love of dogs. At times it is hard to find someone walking along the Embarcadero without a leash in their hand.
Recenty the American Kennel Club released its list of top dogs across the country and for us. it turns out labs rule.
Here's the top five for San Francisco in 2010:
1. Labrador Retriever
2. Golden Retriever
3. Yorkshire Terrier
4. French Bulldog
5. Poodle
The American Kennel Club also reported how San Francisco differs from the rest of the country.
The German Shepherd is the second most popular dog across the country, but it barely made the top ten here (No. 9). Bulldogs dropped in popularity in the city for some reason, although it increased nationally. And while Golden Retrievers fell nationally, they made a comeback here moving up from fourth to second place.
