With momentum building off historic minimum wage wins in California and New York, Bay Area underpaid workers at fast-food restaurants and home care facilities joined what's being billed as the biggest day of strikes and protests to demand that the $15-an-hour salary become the federal minimum wage.
Fast-food workers went on strike in the Bay Area and join local home care and child care workers for a massive protest Thursday.
Telemundo documented dozens of SEIU workers shouting "You can see, you can feel, we are here, the union is present!" at the San Jose McDonald's on Story Road. Other locations for protests include the McDonalds on Market Sreet in San Francisco, the McDonald's on Jackson Street in Oakland, and the Frank Ogawa Plaza at Oakland City Hall.
