Three Shot, Including Child, in Peninsula Drive-By

Three people were shot in Menlo Park Saturday night, including a young child, according to fire officials.

The child was found in a vehicle with 4 men and one women in the parking lot of the McDonalds on University Avenue around 7:45 p.m. in nearby East Palo Alto, Fire Chief Harold Schapelhouman said.

The driver drove to the parking lot across the city line of East Palo Alto after the driveby shooting in Menlo Park.

The woman and child had both been shot, and were transported to Stanford Medical Center. Schapelhouman did not have information on their current condition, but said both appeared to be alive when they left the scene.

No one else was hurt, Schapelhouman said.

A second shooting was reported just after 9 p.m. on Capitol Avenue in East Palo Alto, several blocks from the site where the first shooting victims were found.  That victim died.

Police in East Palo Alto are investigating the shooting that killed the 21-year-old man.

When officers arrived, they found Lamont Coleman, of East Palo Alto, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. Coleman was pronounced dead at the scene.

No suspect information was immediately available.
