Tips from Surveillance Video Helps Fremont Police Nab Suspected Burglar

Richard Banuelos was arrested Thursday on suspicion of residential burglary in Fremont.

Fremont police were able to nab a suspected burglar less than a day after posting surveillance video online.

Detectives at 1:30 p.m. located and arrested Richard Andres Banuelos. The 28-year-old Fremont transient was booked at the Fremont Jail for residential burglary, police said.

The police department released surveillance footage of a suspect rummaging through personal belongings at a home in the Glenmoor neighborhood. The department received tips pointing detectives to Banuelos almost immediately after posting the video online, which was viewed more than 2,000 times on YouTube and reached more than 30,000 people on Facebook.
