San Benito County deputies found a toddler dead inside a home in Hollister Wednesday morning.

Authorities plan on releasing more information during a press conference at 11 a.m. Thursday into the shooting death of an 18-month-old girl.

Investigators say she had been shot in the chest. When deputies responded to the home at 2370 Shore Road in an incorporated area of Hollister, they found a .357 magnum outside the home.

Although the undersheriff declined to identify the two people or their relationship to the child, the residents of the address are John and Cheryl Busch.

Police arrested two people, including Cheryl Busch. She is 39 and self-employed, according to the San Benito County Sheriff's Department.

The toddler is undergoing an autopsy.

Authorities spent most of the day processing the house as a crime scene.

  • DR Saturday, Nov 22 at 4:18 AM FLAG COMMENT I can't help but think of my 18 month old baby when reading this. My first thought was at least she didn't suffer. How sad that I think that, but it's b/c of all the horrible things parents do to their children. I just want to make every parent suffer twice as bad as their hurt their childen. No child deserves any kind of pain.
  • Erika Thursday, Nov 20 at 7:40 PM FLAG COMMENT Its not about reporting more good news! Come on we lost a child! We should try to help children and open our eyes to unfit parents and try to prevent this situation! Report things when people see them and hope everyone is doing something to help. Teachers talk to parents if they see bruises and if it still occures get the police involved... Anything. Yes bad new IS not something we want to hear about all the time but maybe th ... MORE >
  • sandi Thursday, Nov 20 at 12:08 PM FLAG COMMENT I agree with Kathy. I have thought many a time to start a new newspaper and/or TV station where only good news is reported. Something like Postive TV or Happy TV. It is getting to the point that I do not watch the news or read the paper...and everything is so dramatized. Beleive it or not there is a lot of great things that are going on in the world and there are a lot of good people!
  • Kathy Thursday, Nov 20 at 9:09 AM FLAG COMMENT I agree with annonymous.....we do need happier times and each and everyone of us are the only ones that can do this. Obviously our government and the news media are not going to help with this, as everytime you pick up a paper or turn on the TV, there is nothing but doom and gloom. Come on America, let's get moving in the right direction. Let's start our own movement back to happier times. I know people are probably thinking " ... MORE >
  • Anonymous Thursday, Nov 20 at 9:04 AM FLAG COMMENT We won't know until we get results to what actually happened. Evidence points to the parent or parents. Whatever the case, another victim was taken and again a child. Once the reasons are specified then we can be quick to judge and see what can be done to salvage this sad so often situation.
