3-Year-Old Boy Struck and Killed by Vehicle in Sonoma County

A 3-year-old boy was struck and killed by a vehicle Sunday night after he tumbled out of his stroller in a crosswalk at an intersection in an unincorporated community of Sonoma County, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The collision, reported at 6 p.m., occurred at Railroad and Verano avenues in the community of El Verano, CHP said.

As a group of pedestrians was crossing the street, the boy apparently fell out of his stroller into the street and was hit by a pickup truck. He suffered major injuries and was airlifted to Queen of the Valley Medical Center in Napa, where he was pronounced dead, CHP Officer William Ogilvie said.

The man driving the pickup was cooperating with investigators, CHP said. A field sobriety test was conducted, and there was no indication that drugs or alcohol were involved.
