San Jose firefighters put out a small fire in a trash can at a middle school early Thursday morning.

San Jose firefighters  put out a small fire in a trash can at a middle school early Thursday morning.

The call came in at 2:05 a.m. at Herman Leonard Intermediate School at 5955 Blossom Ave., according to fire dispatch.

No one was hurt or at the school, but there have been other trash can fires set at San Jose schools recently.

On June 1, firefighters fought small fires at Evergreen Valley High School about 2:30 a.m. One fire was burning outside the school's library, and a second one was burning in a dumpster. Firefighters called those fires suspicious.

On Sunday, there was a small fire at Independence High School about 6:45 p.m. In that case, a side door on a theater building had been set ablaze. An arson investigator said it was deliberately set.

There has been no word from the fire department as to whether these cases are related or not.
