Truckers Plan Protest at Port of Oakland Wednesday

Drivers with the Port’s Truckers Association have approved a work stoppage.

They said there is no other way to get the attention of Port managers.

Truckers want to negotiate compensation for the hours they spend waiting to unload at the Port.

One spokesman said drivers could wait up to seven hours at the Port, without pay.        

Truckers also want help paying for expensive new emission equipment on their trucks.
