Two Dead in Oakland Police Shooting

Two people are dead after Oakland Police opened fire on them late Wednesday night. 

It happened around 10:30 last night on Curran Avenue near School Street. 

Police say they recovered several weapons at the scene. 

They say the went to Curran and School around 10:15 p.m. after they got a tip that something violent could be happening in that area. Police responding to the scene pulled over a vehicle with three men inside. Police said two of the men got out of the car armed with firearms.

One ran while the other confronted the officers and was shot.  The third man in the car was also shot during the confrontation with officers, according to police.  The third man who ran from the scene was later located thanks to a police helicopter and infrared detection. Police said they also found a gun near that man.

Two men died at the scene. No officers were hurt.
