Two Lanes Blocked After Big-Rig Accident on SB Hwy 880 in Oakland, Crews Cleaning Diesel Spill

Two lanes of southbound Interstate Highway 880 in Oakland remain closed Thursday morning as crews clean up a diesel fuel spill from a collision involving a big-rig and another vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident was first reported at 4:41 a.m. near the Interstate Highway 980 juncture, CHP officials said.

Crews were on scene cleaning up debris strewn across the roadway and working to move the truck, which was reportedly carrying 45,000 pounds in cargo, according to CHP officials.

The crashed truck also leaked diesel fuel onto the roadway that crews were still working to clean up Thursday morning.

Two lanes remained closed as of about 10 a.m. and the CHP said that they were estimated to reopen at about 11 a.m.

No injuries were reported.
