San Jose police responded to the report of a double shooting Thursday afternoon.

The San Jose police department spokesman said the shootings happened in the 1800 block of Bermuda Avenue near Ocala Avenue in East San Jose.

That is near William C. Overfelt High School.

The first reports of the shootings came in around 4:40 p.m.

Police said the shootings appear to be a murder suicide. They said an adult male shot and killed an adult female and then turned the gun on himself. Both victims were in their 20s according to police.

The NBC helicopter flew over the scene and showed police focusing on a home across from the high school. Students were seen continuing practice on the baseball field on campus, showing the school was not impacted by the shootings.

The victims appear to be inside the two story tile roofed home.

Police did not release the names, ages or exact relationship between the victims. Jason Dwyer, spokesman for the San Jose police department, said the victims were involved in some kind of romantic relationship, but he did not know if they were married.
