San Jose police on Monday began investigating a shooting that hospitalized two people in the first shooting of the year just outside the Reign Lounge.
Officers responded at 12:28 a.m. to the 1000 block of E. Capitol Expressway and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. One was shot in the face, the other in the chest. Police had first said the shooting occurred in the 1000 block of McLaughlin Avenue.
Both wounded men were taken to a hospital where one died.
Police said the circumstances surrounding the shooting are under investigation, and officers had detained several people.
Outside the lounge, cameras spotted a woman dressed in high silver shoes escorted out by by police officers. Crime scene tape circled the lounge.
