Bodies of Father, Son Found After Rafting in Pleasanton Lake

The bodies of a father and grown son, who disappeared after they went rafting in a Pleasanton lake without life jackets in an area that lifeguards don't monitor, were found on Monday morning, according to the East Bay Regional Park District.

Spokeswoman Gretchen Rose said the father, in his late 50s, and the son, in his early 30s, had been found about 10 a.m.

Other family members had called for help about 7 p.m. on Sunday, after the pair had gone rafting in waters at Shadow Cliffs Lake Park. The father and son fell off the raft, and drowned, Rose said.

She added that neither knew how to swim and were out after hours.

Alameda County Sheriff's divers used donar to retrieve the bodies.
