UC Berkeley Students Raising Money for Nepal Earthquake Victims

A couple of hundred people gathered Wednesday night at UC Berkeley's Sproul Plaza to remember those who died in the Nepal earthquake.

Those who gathered also have a plan to raise $25,000 through donations to help with relief efforts.

About 200 people took a walk through campus holding candles. Many of those in attendance were students with family in Nepal. Some of the students said they lost loved ones in the violent quake.

"I lost an uncle, one of the kindest, gentlest men I ever met," student Mark Karn said at the gathering. "This man was the headmaster in a school. He was driving home when a mudslide covered him and crushed him."

The students are raising funds through GoFundMe.
