UC Theatre Reopening Called Off Due To Technical Delays

The show will go on, but not as planned.

The grand opening of the UC Theatre did not go as planned this weekend, with performances slated for Friday and Saturday both being cancelled.

The landmark's reopening was much-anticipated, considering the 1400-seat venue had been shuttered for the last 15 years.

Operators cited technical delays in the cancellation of performances by They Might Be GIants on Friday and The Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue on Saturday. Theater officials said refunds would be issued to ticketholders.

"This dear, sweet, old building built in 1917 has thrown us some challenges that we did not see coming, and construction has taken longer than expected," said a statement on the theatre's Facebook page.

Representatives added that the cancellations were "no fault of the bands," and apologizing for the problems.

No reopening date was given, although the statement did say to check th back for updates.
