Santa Visits Marin County on a Cessna 172

The sleigh is ditched for a seaplane

Forget the reindeer. This year, Santa Claus arrived in Marin County on a Cessna 172.

Sixty children from Marin City and the Canal District of San Rafael received gifts via a special delivery on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Marin Independent Journal. Santa made a "perfect landing" on Richardson Bay, where the children were waiting.

He was a little late -- a dead battery delayed his takeoff -- but he was welcomed nonetheless.

Nancy Hoang wanted an Easy Bake oven, and fellow Marin City resident Mikyla Williams was seeking a "microphone for when I sing," the newspaper reported.

This was the first year for "Santa's Seaplane" in Marin, according to Seaplane Adventures owner Aaron Singer, "who has a passing resemblance to Santa," the newspaper reported.
