A 7-year-old boy struck by a VTA train in San Jose was in stable condition on Tuesday, and his injuries are considered accidental, according to the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office.

Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said the investigation is ongoing but foul play isn't being considered at this time.

The boy was struck about 7:30 p.m. on Monday by a southbound light rail train approaching Gish Station, VTA spokeswoman Brandi Childress said.

Light rail service was temporarily suspended from Karina Court to Civic Center stations with bus bridges in place for passengers
