Public Transit For Gymnastics Trials in SJ

Fans have several options of public transportation to take to the HP Pavilion.

The Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority is encouraging gymnast enthusiasts to take VTA bus and light rail to attend the 2012 Gymnastic Olympic Trials that begin today and end on Sunday at the HP Pavilion in San Jose.

Fans have several options:

  • They can take the VTA 522 Rapid and bus line 22, which will drop them off on West Santa Clara St. directly in front of HP Pavilion.
  •   At the nearby Diridon station, they can take light rail as well as VTA bus lines 63, 64, 65, 68; the DASH shuttle (daily service only); for commuters, there are also other bus services including the 181 Express line, Hwy. 17 Express, and the 168 Express (daily service only).
  • Since the Diridon station is a transit hub, there are other transit services including Caltrain, Amtrak, ACE train (daily service only), Capitol Corridor, and the MST (Monterey-Salinas Transit) 55 and 79 lines (available three to five times a day).
  • VTA will be running extra light rail service on Sunday.

Spokeswoman Branci Childress added the perks to riding public transit are that it's " convenient, inexpensive, and green alternative to the high cost of driving and to avoid parking hassles."
