The younger brother of San Francisco 49er tight end Vernon Davis has been charged with murder.
Michael Davis was arrested in late April in Washington, D.C. for allegedly striking a woman on the head with a hammer.
At the time he was also being investigated as a person of interest in the death of Gary Dederichs, a Denver native visiting Washington, D.C.
The 19-year-old was charged with first-degree murder Wednesday for the killing of the 66-year-old tourist, according to The Associated Press.
Police told The Associated Press that they were called on April 24 responded to a call about an
unconscious person. Officers found Dederichs suffering from head trauma and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Michael Davis is the younger brother of the 49ers' star and Miami Dolphins cornerback Vontae Davis.
Vernon Davis flew back to his native Washington, D.C. last month to be with his family after hearing about his brother's arrest.
He took to Twitter then to confirm the report.
"Just got a disturbing call from back home in washington dc (sic)," Vernon Davis "A good day gone bad! Hopefully he wasn't involved!"
