Video Game Lounge to Replace Downtown San Jose Brewery

Drop that beer and pick up a controller: it's gamer on in San Jose.

A haven for gamers will take over a just-closed microbrewery in San Jose, which will soon have its downtown a "first-of-its kind e-sports gamer mecca," according to the Silicon Valley Business Journal.

In San Pedro Square, AFK Gamer Lounge says it plans to take over the former Los Gatos Brewing Co. space at 163 W. Santa Clara Street, the newspaper reported.

The space will have "100 gaming PCs networked together and online" with "the most popular games installed and ready to play" on each of the computers, the newspaper reported.

A pair of San Jose State University graduates, Tyler Peckham and Kevin Wick, are behind the idea that aims to capitalize on the growing popularity of professional video gaming, the newspaper reported.
