Vigil Scheduled For Missing Teen Ryan Menjivar

A candlelight vigil will be held in Martinez this evening for a local high school senior who has been missing since last week.

Ryan Menjivar, 18, was reported missing on Feb. 26 after he left his Martinez home sometime in the middle of the night and did not return home or contact family, according to police.

He was last seen at home around 11:30 p.m. Feb. 25. Friends and family members are planning a vigil for the Alhambra High School senior at Creekside Open Bible Church at 444 Fig Tree Lane in Martinez at 6 p.m. today, according to a website dedicated to finding him, www.helpfindryan.com.

The missing teen's brother, Mark Menjivar, wrote on the site that attendees should bring "yourself, your family if willing, and your warm hearts and well wishes, as this a community coming together to show a young teenager (and ALL young teenagers) that they are never alone."

Police said the teen is considered "at-risk" based on information found during the investigation into his disappearance, but declined to elaborate.

Police said detectives are continuing to investigate the disappearance, which is being treated as a voluntary missing person case. Menjivar's family members could not immediately be reached for comment this afternoon.

The 18-year-old is 6 feet tall and weighs about 165 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing dark jeans, a black shirt and a light green hooded sweatshirt, police said.

Anyone with information about Menjivar's whereabouts is urged to contact Martinez police at (925) 372-3440.
