Violent Weekend in Oakland: Three Shootings Within 24 Hours

A woman was shot and killed, and a man was injured in Oakland's latest shooting

Three shootings happened in Oakland this weekend in a span of less than 24 hours--all of them involved multiple victims.

The latest happened around 9:45 p.m. Saturday. A man and a woman were shot while sitting in a car with a child on MacArthur Boulevard not far from Mills College.

The woman died at the scene, and the man is expected to survive.

Police said the four-year-old was cut when the gunfire shattered the car windows.

That shooting follows another on Telegraph Avenue in Downtown Oakland Saturday afternoon. Four people were shot, but all survived.

NBC Bay Area learned the victims in Saturday afternoon's shooting had caught a purse thief in the act. The suspect had initially ran off but then returned with a gun and opened fire.

Late Friday night, two people were shot and killed in East Oakland.

There is a $25,000 reward for information that leads to arrests in any of those shootings.
