Monday is the deadline to register to vote in next month's presidential election.

Anyone with a signature on file with the Department of Motor Vehicles can register online at www.registertovote.ca.gov, the newspaper reported.
As of the weekend, about 544,000 new Californians had registered to vote using the online service, according to the office of State Sen. Leland Yee, who authored the online registration legislation.
A total of 59 percent of eligible Californians voted in the 2008 election, the San Francisco Appeal reported.
