Warriors' Andre Iguodala Making the (Golf) Rounds in Bay Area

When Andre Iguodala was traded to the Golden State Warriors in 2013, he became one of the key components to the team's recent run of three NBA championships in four seasons.

That also was about the same time he got serious about golf. Recently, he's been spending time on the newly renovated South Course at Corica Park in Alameda.

"That’s the one. Good looking shot," he said after teeing off at the 16th, admiring the spin he put on the ball.

Unfortunately, Iguodala did not get his first hole-in-one that time, but he's guaranteed to keep trying. These days, the Warriors forward can’t get enough of the game. And he’s turned it into a family affair.

"I can play anywhere, but I like playing courses that have beautiful fairways, a lot of different options, especially with the tee boxes," he said. "I can bring my family out here. My wife is getting into it. My son can really play. I have a 1-year old who’s swinging Fisher-Price clubs, so she’ll be here really soon. So, looking forward to it."

Iguodala said Corica Park has become a staple for Warriors players during the season. The team plane is parked just a few miles away.

"A couple of us, we sneak in before the flights, get about 30 minutes, go to the range, hit some balls and feel like we’re at home," he said.

Iguodala told a golfing story that happened sometime before the Warriors finished off the Cavaliers in the NBA Finals earlier this month. And, yes, it involved Steph Curry.

"It was one of the greatest rounds I’ve ever seen a human being play," Iguodala said. "He shot 5-under."

Iguodala did not say where the fabulous round happened, but he mentioned Curry's appearance last year in the Web.com Tour's Ellie Mae Classic at TPC Stonebrae in the hills above Hayward.

"If he plays at that tournament again this year, he’ll make the cut," Iguodala said.
