Warriors Draw Trail Blazers in Conference Semifinals

The Blazers advanced with a 106-103 victory over the Clippers at Moda Center in Portland.

OAKLAND -– Having ousted the Houston Rockets in five games, the Warriors practiced Friday morning without knowing which team they would face in the Western Conference semifinals.

The answer arrived Friday night, and it’s the Portland Trail Blazers. Game 1 is Sunday afternoon (12:30) at Oracle Arena.

The Blazers advanced with a 106-103 victory over the Clippers at Moda Center in Portland. After losing the first two games in Los Angeles, the Blazers roared back to win four in a row to take the first-round series.

The Clippers, it should be noted, lost stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin in Game 4 and neither was able to play in Games 5 or 6.

The Warriors defeated Portland in two of three meetings in the regular season, winning at Oracle Arena and splitting two games at Moda Center.

March 11: Warriors 128, Blazers 112 at Oracle Arena. Klay Thompson and Stephen Curry combined to score 71 points as the rolled out to an 81-61 halftime lead and coasted to victory.

Feb. 19: Blazers 137, Warriors 105 at Moda Center. Oakland native Damian Lillard scored a career-high 51 points to lead the Portland rout during which the Warriors committed 13 third-quarter turnovers.

Jan. 8: Warriors 128, Blazers 108 at Moda Center. Thompson scored 36 points and Curry added 26 as the Warriors took a 74-52 halftime lead and shot 52.9 percent from the field. Lillard scored 40 for Portland.
