Winchester Mystery House Offers Flashlight Tours on Friday the 13th

A home whose former owner was obsessed with the number 13 is opening its doors the night of Friday the 13th for flashlight tours.

Tours at the Winchester Mystery House start at 6:30 p.m. and go until midnight. Tour organizers say it's a chance to glimpse one of the world's most famous and strange mansions at night.

Former owner Sarah Winchester believed in the number 13 and showed her belief in the construction of the home, which never ended. The house has 13 bathrooms, 13 fireplaces and 13 steps in the flight of stairs.

A ticket for a tour is $49. Organizers encourage the public to purchase tickets in advance as the event is typically sold out.

The home is a San Jose city landmark, a state historic landmark and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
