Winter-like Weather Pattern Sticks

If you are looking for summer heat, you might have to wait until a turn of the calendar page.

A wacky winter-like weather pattern continued to hover over the Bay Area Tuesday.  Most of us woke up to cloudy skies and wet roads.

The NBC Bay Area weather department says the latest system over Northern California will bring more scattered rain tonight that will linger into early the early Wednesday commute.

There is also a rare mid-May Sierra Winter Storm Warning in effect through Wednesday morning in and around Tahoe. Several inches of snow could fall near 5,000 feet with more than a foot predicted for the higher summits.

Forecasters blame the weird weather on a La Nina weather pattern which has already produced many extremes this spring.

Chief Meteorologist Jeff Ranieri said we will have more rain over the current four day period then we normally see in the entire month of May, with temperatures 10-15 degrees below average.

And if the weather pattern NBC Bay Area meteorologist Rob Mayeda posted Tuesday morning is right, we should keep the umbrellas handy. It shows the chance of rain will continue to Memorial Day weekend. The heat of the summer isn't expected until the first of June.
