A young woman was killed in Mountain View early Sunday morning after her car hit a tree.
Police said the woman, who was in her 20s, was driving alone around 12:20 a.m. when her Chevy sedan swerved from the eastbound lanes of Central Expressway near highway 85 and collided with a large tree in the central median. The car burst into flames and although fire fighters arrived quickly to put the fire out, the woman died at the scene.
Police said they are not sure what led to the collision, but said that speed was a factor. The woman has not yet been identified.
