Woman Found Dead in Car in San Jose Last Week Was Stabbed by Son: Police

A woman found stabbed to death in a car in San Jose last week was apparently killed by her adult son, who then left and killed himself, police said Thursday.

Lien Thi Do, 55, was found last Thursday by a passerby slumped over the wheel of her parked Honda in a parking lot on the corner of Aborn and Kettmann roads near San Jose's Evergreen Branch library, police said.

Officers responded at 11:02 a.m., and the woman was pronounced dead. The Santa Clara County medical examiner's office later concluded she had been stabbed to death, police said.

Later that day, police found Do's son, 22-year-old Quy Xuan Pham, of San Jose, dead from an apparent suicide near where Do was found.

Investigators concluded that Pham had killed his mother and then himself soon after, police said. The day Do was found, police said there were indications her body had been there since the night before.

Police do not believe that there are any outstanding suspects in the case and said Do and Pham have no relationship to the businesses near the crime scene.

Anyone with information about the case has been asked to call San Jose police Detective Sgt. Yu or Detective Tran at (408) 277-5283 or anonymously through the Crime Stoppers Tip Line at (408) 947-STOP.
