Woman Found Naked, Burned in Sonoma Co.

Police found woman screaming on the side of the road, after responding to a domestic violence call

A woman was found naked and burned on the side of a rural Sonoma County road Tuesday night shortly after sheriff's deputies received a call about a domestic disturbance, a sheriff's lieutenant said.

Deputies were dispatched to a home on Sonoma Mountain Road at 10:24 p.m. in response to the call and discovered burned clothing in the driveway, Lt. Glenn Lawrence said.

Deputies then received a second call at 10:50 p.m. from another home about a mile away reporting a woman screaming in a field, Lawrence said.

They found a nude and badly burned woman who was screaming in pain lying on the road's shoulder, Lawrence said. The woman was taken to a local hospital then transferred to a burn treatment center in San Francisco, Lawrence said.

An employee with the Bennett Valley Fire Department said another reporting party came to the fire station at 6161 Bennett Valley Road around 10:50 p.m. to report hearing a woman screaming for help.

The woman, who was found in a ditch, was suffering from second-degree burns from the waist up, including on her hands and face, the employee said.

The circumstances of the woman's injuries are not known and the incident is still under investigation, Lawrence said.
