Woman Killed in Santa Rosa DUI Crash, Driver Arrested

California Highway Patrol officers arrested a man on suspicion of driving drunk after an accident early Sunday morning in Santa Rosa left one woman dead.

The man, who was driving a truck, left the roadway and smashed into a concrete culvert on Llano Road around 2:30 a.m., killing his female passenger, according to CHP Sgt. Blair Hardcastle.

The woman, believed to be roughly 35 years old, was proncounced dead at the scene, Hardcastle said. The driver, reported to be about 30 years old, was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital to be treated for moderate injuries, he said.

The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed at the time of the accident, according to Hardcastle.

Llano Road was closed until 5:30 a.m. while officials investigated the scene.

The names of the man and woman have not been released by police.
