Woman Shot, Killed While Driving in Oakland

A woman was shot and killed Wednesday while driving through East Oakland, police said.

The shooting was reported around 1:25 p.m. in the 2400 block of Fern Street in Oakland's Fairfax neighborhood.

Some in the neighborhood think 66-year-old Judy Salamon was caught in the crossfire when she was killed.

Officers arriving at the scene were unable to locate any suspects, and no arrests had been made in the case as of 3 p.m., Officer J. Moore said.

A neighbor told NBC Bay Area Salamon was in a car with a friend's dog she was taking care of when she was shot and killed.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Oakland police at 510-238-3821. Those who wish to remain anonymous may call 510-773-2508.
