A woman who was struck by a falling tree branch at a popular San Francisco park, suffering permanent injuries, is suing the city.
Emma Zhou was talking to her daughters in the park last month, when a 100-pound branch broke off, fell about 50 feet and landed on her. She was paralyzed from the waist down and suffered brain damage.
Zhou is suing the city and county of San Francisco for not correctly pruning pine trees at Washington Square Park.
Doctors say Zhou will need at least 16 more months of rehab, and they don't expect her to ever walk again.
Zhou's husband, Tony Tan, has had to take leave from his job as a computer repair technician and has temporarily moved out of the couple's San Pablo home to be with Zhou at the hospital, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
A GoFundMe page has been set up and has raised nearly $40,000 of a $50,000 goal.
