Yuba City College Student Drowns in Feather River After Going Missing in March

Authorities say the college student whose body was found in the Feather River in Northern California after her family reported her missing died of drowning.

The Sutter County Sheriff's Office announced Tuesday an autopsy determined the cause of Alycia Yeoman's death.

A fisherman found the 20-year-old's body on May 7 near Live Oak, about 50 miles north of Sacramento. Yeoman was last seen March 30 driving away from a friend's home in Yuba City. Her truck and cellphone were found near a river levee in Live Oak.

Authorities searched the home where she was last seen but wouldn't say if they found anything suspicious.

After her disappearance, Yeoman's family said they believed she was alive and needed help.
