Waffle House Waitress Finally Gets Her $1,000 Tip

The 26-year-old waitress and single mom who was forced by Waffle House to give up her $1,000 tip due to the restaurant chain's policy on large gratuities finally got her money this week, when the tipper wrote her a personal check, Today.com reported. The tipper, who has insisted on remaining anonymous, found Shaina Brown with the help of a local news columnist and gave her a check directly. Waffle House issued a statement on Tuesday apologizing for the incident. “This has given us cause to review our procedures so we can get tips to our associates quicker in these unusual situation(s),” said the statement. The restaurant chain has a policy of refunding large tips left with credit cards in case the customer later decides to dispute the amount.
