Stocks took a plunge Thursday after reports that a Malaysian passenger plane had crashed in Ukraine, which was followed by Israel's decision to launch a ground offensive in Gaza. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 161 points by the end of the day. The S&P 500 was down about 23 points and the Nasdaq was 62 points lower.
