A Chicago man didn’t want to pay the 22-cent tax on his $1.79 two-liter of Pepsi this weekend, so he pulled a .22-caliber semi-automatic handgun out of his Gucci satchel in the convenience store where they tried to make him pay it and threatened to kill everyone there, authorities said. This “is my neighborhood, I’m tax-exempt!” he would later allegedly tell the cops, the Chicago Sun-Times reported. “Man, you know what, I’ll keep it real. I had to put them in their place.”

A student at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, is suing the school, claiming that it failed to act on a sexual harassment complaint she filed against a professor two years ago. The student charges that Professor Peter Ludlow gave her alcohol and fondled her during a trip to downtown Chicago in February 2012. She alleges that he ignored her pleas to be taken back to Evanston, and took her to his apartment, where she eventually passed out and woke up in the professor's bed. The lawsuit states that after the woman aired her complaints, the university concluded that Ludlow engaged inappropriate behavior, but the student continued to encounter him on campus, and the University provided no evidence of any "disciplinary and corrective actions."
