Chicago Mother Wins $250K After Buying Winning Lottery Ticket at Grocery Store

The woman purchased the ticket with a carton of eggs she forgot to buy when grocery shopping earlier that day

A Chicago woman considers herself "extremely blessed" after she won $250,000 from a lottery ticket she purchased along with a carton of eggs she forgot to buy when grocery shopping earlier in the day.

"It's a good thing I forgot the eggs, because when I went back to the store, I bought my winning Crossword ticket," Marta Osorio said.

Osorio, a single mother of three children, said she plans to use some of her winnings to visit her extended family in her native country of Honduras. She also said she will buy a home for her family.

The winning ticket was purchased at First Choice Market, located at 3019 E. 91st St. The grocery store will receive $2,500, which is equal to 1 percent of the prize amount, for selling the winning ticket.

Osorio won the $250,000 Crossword prize with the purchase of a $10 instant ticket. Ten of the top prizes have not yet been claimed.
